Week 4 Announcement

Week 4 of Inspiring Leadership through Emotional Intelligence is all about inspiring and motivating sustained development, growth, and learning. You will be asked to think about those key people in your life who have helped you. Positive and negative emotional attractors are also discussed. You will explore how you and others respond to them.

The discussion forums continue to be a way for students to be engaged in the course material and with one another. Some great discussions have been on the competencies seen in the Narayan Murthy video! Others are discussing their experiences with positive and negative emotional contagion, and which EI competencies you commonly (or seldom) see demonstrated while at work or school.

On another note, we are sharing an additional resource for Module 1. Below please find a link for a free article (Boyatzis, Rochford, and Jack, March 2014) that examines two distinct and opposing neural networks that apply to leadership roles, i.e., task vs. socio-emotional leadership. Finally, we will be offering a live web conference for you to interact with Richard. The purpose of this session is to answer your questions and discuss what's working with the MOOC and how this experience is helping you learn about leadership. This interactive session will include live video streaming and the ability to ask questions in real time.

The session will be held on Tuesday March 10 from 3:00 - 4:30 p.m., EST. Please note, this is a web conference only; there will be no dial in number. You will be able to ask questions using a microphone attached to your computer, or by typing into the Q&A window. In the next few days, directions on how to join this event will be posted at the 'Live Chats with Richard!' tab.
