Billy Elliot And Brokeback Mountain

1º film - Looking for similarities, I choose the main characters, Mr. Freackman and Billy elliot. The strongest similatiry that I perceive it is the determination. In fact, because in both movies we find these two people struggling a lot to get their goals. By “To Sir, With Love”, we saw Mr. Freackman, an ingenuer, who realized himself as a very good teacher after teaching a group of rebel youngs. In the second one, “Billy Elliot”, we see a boy, Billy, who wants to become a dancer and after aimed at his traditional family became a very famous one.

2º - film Brokeback Mountain

The movie was directed by Ang Lee in 2005. The story about two men in the American West from 1963 to 1983. One man is cowboy Jack Twist and other is ranch hand Ennis Del Mar. This happeness, they are young men, met and they went to work in the Brockeback Mountain, in Wyoming. There they falled in love. One day, it's very cold and Ennis returns to camp and Jack ask his that he sleeps in the tent. There, they have a sexual relationship. During this period, the sheep are mixed in with another foreign herd. And the season finishes early. They return them local. Ennis marries Alma Beers and he has two daughters and one soon. They live in a small Wyoming town. Jack go in Texas marries the magnate's daughter, Lureen Newsome. He has a son, Bobby. The years later, Ennis receives a postcard from Jack and he asks if Ennis wants to meet him. Then, Jack arrives, they kiss them and Alma sees them together. Jack wants a life together. Ennis believe that this can only end in tragedy. Ennis and Jack combine the dates in the mountains. Ennis divorce his wife but he'll pay support for his child. Jack hopes that they can live together but Ennis refuses. Jack seeks out a male prostitute.

On another date in the mountains in 1983 they talk about their lives. Ennis has been dating a girlfriend Cassie Cartwright and Jack says he's been seeing the ranch foreman's wife. But it's not true. Jack is involved with foreman. Ennis says Jack that because of his job he has to cancel their next date. They have a fight.

Months later, a postcard Ennis sent to Jack but it returned with in the mail stamped "Deceased". Jack's wife Lureen tells as Jack died in an accident. But he see other images, a murder. Lureen tells Ennis that Jack had wished to have his ashes scattered on Brokeback Mountain and she suggests that Ennis do a contact for Jack's family. Ennis travels to see Jack's parents and he offers to take Jack's ashes to Brokeback Mountain, but Jack's father didn't permit.

This movie is one of many films that it shows the homosexuality. The gay movement appeared by a human need to modify of pre-establisher’s concepts, of the reflection need about who be and what them role in the world.

During the film, it is clear the prejudice and individuals’ attitude about this.

It shows the suffering heterosexuals and homosexuals to accept and accept themselves. I think there are many stories is similar this and many others. Because there is a great difficulty in accepting that we are and it isn’t that society requires us. I don’t believe that the social differences, discrimination is in end. I have a pessimistic view, but I believe that we are very different culturally and intellectually.
