Capitalism ranks of society into social classes. Basically, if you have the owners, the ruling class and the proletarians, the ruled class. However, with the development of this political and socio-economic model, and the modernization of it, there arose a social class that can be inserted either as proletarian, and as owner: the middle class. It came with the development of capitalism and ranks to have reasonable purchasing power and a standard of living considered good. The middle class is defined between the class that is among the nobility and peasants - this, of course, in the case of ancient times.

This new class was characterized by work in exchange for financial amounts; however, their working conditions were more well-endowed, comfortable and safe. They differed from the other classes, such as farmers. To take the middle class position, there were some requirements as reach the top level, which they called tertiary education. Be qualified in one of these professions: doctor, lawyer, engineer, etc. The formations are independent of income. The view of this class is relative to status. Have jobs where there was financial stability and good working conditions. The cultural identification, so, adaptation, rather, cultural. For example, immigrants must get used to the new social media.

In socialist perspective, the middle class concept also exists, but differently.
