Final Interview

Final Interview:

Your final interview will consist of a culmination of active listening skills.  You will pair up with a partner of your choice (or one will be assigned to you).  There will be a sign up sheet towards the end of the semester for you to choose the time and date for your interview with me.  Your interview is worth 200 points of your final grade in this course.  

You will be given two scenarios and you and your partner will begin an active listening conversation.  You will need to respond with:

Closed-Ended Question

General Inference (thoughts)

Feeling-Level Inference (emotions)

Self-Disclosure

Nonjudgmental

Effective Pauses

When you begin your conversation one of you will act as the “Sender” using your selected scenario, while the other partner acts as the “Receiver” using active listening techniques.  After about 4 to 6 minutes you and your partner will reverse roles.  Again, you will select a scenario to act out.  You will have another 4 to 6 minutes to complete the second half of your conversation while your partner uses the active listening techniques.  In summation; I expect the two of you to converse for a total of 8 to 12 minutes, where both of you will each play the role of “Sender” and “Receiver”.

Points:             200 points

Remember:  You only have one chance at this, there are no make ups.
