Performing a CMSADM backup

To backup of your current system files:

! Important:

A CMSADM backup should be performed approximately one day before the

CMS base load upgrade is performed.

1. Log in as root user.

2. Enter:

cmsadm

The Avaya CentreVu(R) Call Management System Administration Menu

(CMSADM Menu) is displayed.

3. Enter the number associated with the backup option.

● If only one tape drive is available, the system displays the following message:

● If more than one tape drive is available for use, the system displays a message

similar to the following:

i. Enter a tape drive selection from the displayed list.

The system displays the following message:

Please insert the first cartridge tape into <device name>.

Press ENTER when ready or Del to quit:

Select the tape drive:

1) Exabyte EXB-8900 8mm Helical Scan tape drive: /dev/rmt/0

2) Exabyte EXB-8500 8mm Helical Scan tape drive: /dev/rmt/1

Enter choice (1-2):

Please insert the first cartridge tape into <device name>.

Press ENTER when ready or Del to quit:

Note:

If the system fails to identify the tapes by manufacturer name, tape devices

are displayed according to their system device names, such as

“/dev/rmt/0”.

4. Press Enter.

The backup process is initiated.

When the backup is complete, the system displays the following message:

5. Save the tapes until a backup restore is performed.
