SINOPSE
O trabalho tenta mostrar como cada uma das Ordens Sagradas ocupou seu lugar no culto cristão, quais as funções que elas assumiram e a sua evolu- ção na história eclesiástica, para terminar com um detalhado estudo do tema no marco do Anglicanismo. O primeiro capítulo apresenta uma breve visão antropológica e teológica, e ato seguido entra no Cristianismo, para ali analisar as bases Escriturais e de Tradição, ver as razões da Ordenação e começar um aprofundamento de documentos dos quatro primeiros sécu- los da Igreja, tanto no Oriente quanto no Ocidente, de forma inclusiva, com reflexões, que, além de sua função óbvia, servem para a expressão da opinião do autor. O capítulo segundo dedica-se ao período medieval e es- tuda as funções litúrgicas das três Ordens através de dois dos mais antigos documentos da coleção dos Ordines Romani: extrai deles a informação re- querida e vê seu desenvolvimento no tempo e na geografia européias. A- presenta os primórdios da Liturgia nas Ilhas Britânicas, introduzindo, de forma sumária, o Uso de Sarum e terminando com uma Reflexão sobre o visto nesse momento histórico. O terceiro e último capítulo aprofunda a reflexão acerca do Uso de Sarum e encara o tema da Reforma Inglesa do século XVI, com o Ordinal de 1550 até nossos dias, analisando detalha- damente:
a) as funções, tal como elas aparecem no Livro de Oração Comum (LOC)
de 1662 até 1840;
b) as mesmas, baseadas no mesmo LOC, mas sob a influência dos movi- mentos Anglo-Católico e Ritualista, no período de 1840-1980;
c) as reformas dos LOCs desde 1980 até o presente, em várias Províncias da Comunhão Anglicana.
Termina-se com as Reflexões Finais, nas quais se discorre sobre como o Anglicanismo enfrentou as mudanças e desenvolvimentos nas funções das Ordens Sagradas; como conseguiu preservar a Tradição, e, o que é muito mais importante, como preservou sua Unidade, aceitando o desafio da di- versidade, usando para isso as ferramentas da razão, do amor e da abran- gência, enriquecendo desse modo a toda a Comunhão Anglicana.

ABSTRACT
The subject of this dissertation tempts to show how every one of the three Holy Orders took its place in the Church worship, which were the duties or functions assumed by them and its evolution along Church History, concluding with their detailed study within the frame of Anglicanism.
First chapter begins with a short description of the subject on anthropo- logical and theological basis, entering then in Christianity in order to ex- plain the foundations of the theme in Scripture and Tradition, and starting a minucious study of Eastern and Western Church’s documents of the first four centuries, in an inclusive way, accompanied with “Reflections” to help to think about and also to provide a way to express the author’s opin- ions. Second chapter is dedicated to the Medieval Age; it analyzes in de- tail two of the oldest documents of the “Romani Ordines” collection, ex- tracts of them the liturgical functions of the Orders, and introduces the study of Liturgy in the British Islands, through the “Uses” especially that of Sarum, finishing with the Reflection about what has been seen until that moment. Third and last chapter deepens in Sarum’s Use and faces the theme from the English Reform in the XVIth century, with the 1550’s Or- dinal until our days, analyzing:
a) the functions as they appear in the 1662 Book of Common Prayer
(BCP) until 1840;
b) the same, from 1840 to 1980, under the influence of the Anglo-Catholic and Ritualist Movements, and
c) the reforms of the BCPs from 1980 until our days, in various Provinces of the Anglican Communion.
In the Final Conclusions is told how Anglicanism faced up the changes and the development of the Holy Orders’ functions, how it managed to preserve Tradition, and (what’s more important), its Unity, accepting its diversity, using the tools of reason, love and comprehensiveness, and en- riching in that way the whole Anglican Communion.
