Estratégias no Ensino da Genética

Abstract

Science teaching is a daily challenge, permeated by theories and practices that travel between the past, with the historical advents of the beginnings of science, and which are inserted in an un passant way, and new discoveries, these in different contexts, even through web or television news, and genetics as a swarming science, appears in classes as a challenging subject for both students, who see it as something abstract where biology uses mathematics and Portuguese to solve problems, as also for teachers who have to use knowledge from subjects other than their training. In addition to these difficulties, there is also a need for students to acquire a new vocabulary specific to genetics. This set of factors fosters a certain rejection of the subject in students, which consequently increases the difficulty of learning. In this sense, new didactic strategies must be sought by teachers in order to increase the understanding and receptivity of the subject by students. The purpose of this work is to demonstrate that students, when including themselves as protagonists of this video production process, have a different view of genetics, since to produce the videos they will be acquiring knowledge about the subject. The students chosen for this work are from two private schools, with classes from the first and third year of high school, and the product will be a booklet containing instructions, tools and links for the production of videos, this will be validated by students from the other school who with the instructions should shoot their own videos.
