Sherlock Holmes is one of the most famous stories in the entire world and it has been adjusted to a wide range of media for more than a 100 years, with movies and ongoing TV series. Throughout the long term, a lot of authors have utilized the criminology and different characters from Arthur Conan Doyle to make their own, and some of them even made the Holmes family greater.

That is the situation of the writer Nancy Springer and her book series The Enola Holmes Mysteries, which presented the tale of the third Holmes kin named Enola (Millie Bobby Brown).Enola stopped seeing her brothers Sherlock (Henry Cavill) and Mycroft (Sam Claflin),who both left home after her father’s death, when she was little, and they only get to see each other again 10 years later after their mother, Eudoria (Helena Bonham Carter), mysterious disappearance. This event started Enola’s freedom journey and her career as a detective, proving that she can be as good as her famous brother.

The movie is about the first book of the series and follows Enola while she’s investigating the disappearance of her mother while running away from Mycroft, who plans on sending her off to a school for young ladies, where she is supposed to learn how to behave like a “woman”. Enola Holmes has a 90% Tomatometer score at Rotten Tomatoes (one of the world's biggest critics website.), with critics praising Millie’s performance, Jack Thorne’s script, and the themes addressed in the story, mostly feminism and social equality.

Enola Holmes should definitely be congratulated because of its sense of humor, the breaking of the fourth wall was a brilliant idea, I personally don't like these types of interaction, they start to get boring and even annoying throughout the narrative, however the breaking of the fourth wall in this movie is exciting and it helps you understand a good part of the story.

Another thing that should be acclaimed is the acting and the characters. The characters are just so well created and described.Something that gives positive points to the movie is that they not only focus on Enola's story. In this role, Millie Bobby Brown definitely shows her acting talent, while Henry Cavill brings a totally different Sherlock to life, but for me someone who should definitely be highlighted is Edith, Susan Wokoma’s character, such a strong and intelligent character.

The movie may seem just like any other movies from this genre, the story of a girl who has to leave her comfort zone and goes through challenges that make her more mature until she returns home as a new person. Even though Enola Holmes does not bring many new things to the public, at the same time, it is not a cliché, and has many different positive sides like the plot and the characters, this definitely makes the watching experience pleasant and interesting. Enola Holmes is definitely a movie to watch on a Sunday evening with your family.
